The Egyptian, Mohamed Salah has joined Liverpool from Roma in a club-record deal worth £39million. Salah arrived in Merseyside on Tuesday to undergo medical checks and put the final touches on personal terms.

He becomes the most expensive signing in Liverpool's illustrious history, exceeding the £35m they paid to sign Andy Carroll from Newcastle United in 2011.

Salah will claim the number 11 shirt famously worn by club legends like Ian Callaghan, Graeme Souness and Terry McDermott and last season by star striker Roberto Firmino; with the Brazilian taking the number nine worn by iconic strikers such as Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler before him.

Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Salah said: 'I'm very excited to be here. I'm very happy.

'I will give 100 per cent and give everything for the club. I really want to win something for this club.

'We have a great team and very good players. I was watching the games last year and everyone was giving 100 per cent to win something.
